Imps
were small mischievous demons who enjoyed causing trouble and getting
into things best left alone. The knife, Imp, carried a blade of Delbert
Ealy multi-bar damascus, mosaic damascus grips inlayed with gold lip mother
of pearl, a back spacer and lock bar of ladder pattern damascus, a hand
tooled and fileworked pivot pin and a multi-part thumbstud eye of ladder
pattern damascus inlayed with abalone. Imp was the first of my Dark Light
custom hand made knives to be made as a lockback, the first to use my
hand tooled custom pivot pin and the first of the smaller DarkLight knives.
Imp also featured inlays that were cabochons;
that is to say the inlay tops were rounded into domes as opposed to being
flush with the surface of the knife. This process exposes more surface
area of the inlay and improves the color play in the pearl.
